SAMMY J

Elvis Tribute Artist Sammy J captures the dynamic energy of Elvis's live performances with a stunning show of his own. As a child, Sammy J remembers watching the 1968 Elvis Comeback Special with his mother. This event instilled in Sammy a lifelong admiration of Elvis Presley. At 18, Sammy (then a private in the Army) had already lit up his fellow troops' spirits at Fort Benning, Georgia with his blazing impersonations of Elvis.
Today, Sammy J stands out as one of the fastest rising Elvis Tribute Artists in the world. He has focused his attention onto capturing every artistic detail of Elvis’s live performance. Sammy J assumes Elvis's look, sound, presence, charisma, and moves with a reverence few can match. He wears authentic stage wear crafted by the same tailor responsible for Elvis's sequined jump suits. He has studied and rehearsed the King's every move. His trained voice bears a striking resemblance to Elvis's. Once onstage, Sammy J easily converts even the most cynical and makes fans of all who come to see him perform as Elvis.
Sammy J has been active on the professional circuit for two years and is coming up quickly through the ranks. This past summer, he took first place in the Elvis Impersonator Contest in Millville, NJ. He was also a finalist in the 2003 World Tribute Artist Competition in Canada. At present, he is being booked into larger and grander venues as word of his act continues to spread. He is available for all types of bookings including casinos, cruise ships, conventions, and corporate events. His act can be tailored to meet the needs of specialized presentations and themed events. As Elvis, Sammy J has made multiple television appearances on CN8 Boston, Fox 29, and Channel Six Action News. He has been featured in several major newspapers throughout the region. This month, Sammy J was called up to Manhattan and photographed for an upcoming issue of Fortune Magazine.
Sammy J has performed at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. Other Sammy J sightings have included weddings (he is an ordained minister and can officiate), competitions, and private parties in ballrooms and clubs up and down the East Coast. His performances have raised awareness and donations for both the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center and for the troops of the 103rd Engineers, currently serving in Iraq, as well as their families. He is a founding member of the Elvis Presley Collectors' Club and is a member of the National Association of Performing Tribute Artists.
In addition, Sammy J is highly regarded as a painter. His recent work Looking To The Future, a probing survey of American history, has been released in Limited Edition prints, This work was featured in American History Magazine and is now prominently displayed in Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute. He is the only living artist featured in the art book Benjamin Franklin, In Search Of A Better World. Recently, he was commissioned to create a now complete and soon-to-be-unveiled painting of historic Elfreth’s Alley. It is this artist’s approach that makes Sammy J the Elvis Tribute Artist to see.
